What about it red?

I'm starting this blog with an unusual view of one of the most celebrated monuments of our city, probably the most famous, thanks to all of its appearences on movies, shows and so on who definitely made a pop icon out of this spot. Yes, I'm talking about the Trevi Fountain. Recently, everybody in Italy has been talking about that because a group of so-called "futurists" decided to paint it red (just the water, don't worry!), in order to protest against the Rome Cinema Fest who had just begun. In the beginning everyone cried to the scandal, accusing the "vandals" of jeopardizing the fountaing who could suffer severe damages. Luckily nothing happened and the monument is still there attracting tourists and their change, making somebody think: "Are we sure that guy is a vandal? What would have we said if, istead, somebody as Christo had done it on purpose, maybe paid by the municipality?" The red fountain was surely cool, so that the doubt remains. Should the "futurist" be prosecuted? Or shall we consider him just another cool urban artist?
